My Design Process

Good user experience design isn't a random shot in the dark. It's a methodical, purposeful approach to efficient and effective problem solving. If you want good results, you need good practices. Here are mine.

RESEARCH
There are good ideas and bad ideas. Research helps you know which is which by learning: who you are going up against through competitive analysis; who you are serving through persona building, storyboarding, and journey mapping; and what problems your users are facing in interviews, card sorting, and surveys.

PROTOTYPE
Creating sketches, lo/hi-fidelity wire frames, and interactive prototypes help flesh out the ideas on paper and turn them into products that will impact the user you are serving. Through this process you get to see how your designs actually function, and create a tangible product for your users to test out.

TEST
But is your product good? This phase helps us see what does and does not work, and gives us the opportunity to improve based off of real world feedback through methods like usability testing, A/B testing, and focus groups.

ITERATE
But wait, there's more! The life of a designer is never finished. As we continue to test and learn, we can continue to improve. The more we can improve, the more we can serve others by bringing joyful experiences to the applications and products we create.
